Physiotherapy mobile in Basel

Physiotherapy is usually prescribed during or after medical treatment, e.g. after orthopaedic surgery, for back pain or motor impairments. People with very different complaints can learn to gradually rebuild their mobility, coordination, strength and endurance through physiotherapy measures. This can be done either passively, without exertion, or actively, with patients performing exercises independently under physiotherapeutical guidance. They do not have to go to a practice for this. Mobile physiotherapist Nancy Heuer will come to you in your familiar surroundings.

Manual therapy (MT)

In the manual treatment of functional disorders and complaints, trained physiotherapists use special hand movements to mobilize joints and muscles. The person being treated remains passive, i.e. as relaxed as possible, so that blockages can be released. The manual examination of the painful area is also suitable for analyzing the possible cause because it is gentle and targeted. The small click is part of it: With experienced hands, a displaced joint, for example, is first loosened and then repositioned correctly with a small jerking movement. In other cases, a stretching technique is used to manually act on tense nerves, which in turn cause pain. Other physiotherapy methods include special forms of massage.

With thorough examination

Manual therapy (MT) may only be carried out by trained therapists in order to prevent injuries to the cervical spine or other consequences. This is why physiotherapy is preceded by a thorough examination. Physiotherapist Nancy Heuer has both the qualifications and a great deal of practical experience in manual therapy. With her, you are in good hands in the truest sense of the word.

More about the process

This is where mobile physiotherapy can help:

  • after operations, in rehabilitation
  • with orthopaedic problems, joint stiffness after bone fractures
  • back pain, neck pain, headaches
  • injuries to muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves
  • with pelvic floor problems such as incontinence
  • muscle weakness after pregnancy
  • rheumatism, arthrosis
  • after sports injuries and as a preventative measure
  • with gait instability, balance and coordination
  • with age-related movement restrictions
  • when a visit to the practice is not possible

Electrotherapy

In addition to manual therapy, device-supported physiotherapy offers effective treatments for certain symptoms and causes. Electrotherapy works like this: electrical impulses and a gentle flow of current are used to influence muscle tone, which is always present in the muscle as basic tension. In the event of trauma or excessive tension (persistent cramping), electrotherapy is used to regulate the muscle tone so that more relaxation, more blood flow and consequently increasing mobility is possible. Pain is reduced and oedema is reduced. Electrotherapy is virtually painless and has a loosening effect, which is why it is useful as a preparatory treatment before manual therapy.

Electrotherapy

The positive effects of electrotherapy:

  • stimulation to prevent muscle atrophy, e.g. in the case of long term casts (fractures)
  • healing and/or prevention bed sores
  • relaxation of tense muscles, muscle building, muscle strengthening
  • pain-relieving, calms pain conduction
  • improves blood circulation
  • warming of the skin and deeper tissue layers
  • stimulation of the metabolism for weight loss

Ultrasound therapy

The ultrasound therapy generates a deep heat effect that can relieve pain and release muscle spasms and contractures in joints that have been tense for a long time. Ultrasound therapy is also used to treat complaints caused by inflammation in the skeletal muscles (myositis), e.g. stiff "frozen" shoulders (adhesive capsulitis) and calcification of bursae (calcific bursitis). Another area of application is soft tissue injuries in sport, such as tendons shortened by scar tissue and other complaints. In such cases in particular, a visit to the practice is difficult or even impossible for many of those affected. I have portable equipment at my disposal for on-site treatment at the patient's home. It is state-of-the-art medical technology - safe and gentle to use.
